Farm Income Remains Down

Farm income has been cut almost in half over the last three years, according to economists with the USDA.  They spoke to House members yesterday and Chief Economist Robert Johansson told the members that farm income for 2017 should remain flat.  He said that the availability of credit is tight but they think net cash incomes will rise slightly from last year.  Two members of the committee, Mike Conaway and Collin Peterson have called for a different approach to the farm bill than 2014, looking at program needs first and then proposing budget cuts.
