Cody Steven Zuspann was held this morning on $330,000 dollars by Magistrate Thatcher. Zuspann is charged with three counts of Sexual Abuse 3rd degree (2nd offense), which are Class A felonies and three counts of Sex Offender Registration Violation against a minor, which are Class C felonies. A no contact order was also entered between Zuspann and the victims, whose names will not be released because they are minors. Zuspann filed an application for appointment of counsel and Charles Kenville was appointed to represent him. His preliminary hearing was scheduled for October 20th, at 4pm.

Last month Fort Dodge police were called to Unity Point for report of an assault. When officers arrived they discovered the assault was against a minor. They called the Fort Dodge Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division to assist. During the investigation Fort Dodge Police discovered two additional victims’ along with identifying a suspect, 23 year Cody Steven Zuspann. Today along with help from the Council Bluffs, Police Department Zuspann was arrested. Zuspann is being held in the Pottawattamie County jail and will be extradited back to Webster County tonight. Zuspann has been charged with three counts of Sexual Abuse 3rd Degree (2nd Offense) which are Class A felonies. He was also charged with three counts of Violation of a Sex Offender Registry Against Minors which are Class C felonies. Under Iowa Code a Class A felony is punishable by life in prison without the possibility of parole if convicted. Zuspann is expected to make his initial appearance tomorrow morning at 9am.
