Body discovered in Fort Dodge shed

A dead body was discovered Tuesday night in Fort Dodge in a shed at 1216 First Ave North when police responded to calls of a strong smell at around 7:30 pm. The body was found in a shed behind a vacant house that has been vacant for several months and initial reports from police indicates that the body was decomposed. Firefighters removed the body from the shed shortly before 9 pm. The cause and manner of death will be determined after the body is sent to the state medical examiners office in Ankeny for an autopsy. Fort Dodge Police, firefighters, UnityPoint- Trinity Regional Medical Center and deputy medical examiner Mark Gargano assisted on the scene last night.
