2019 ROAD TO TREE TOWN KARAOKE CONTEST – OFFICIAL RULES
All contestants must be 21 years of age or older. Void where prohibited by law.

ELIGIBILITY:

Alpha Media (2019 Karaoke Competition) is open to legal residents of the United States who are 21 years of age or older. The Competition will be held at locations listed online. (Locations subject to change)
All employees of Alpha Media and its affiliate stations will not be eligible to enter. Contestant represents that he/she is not under a major or nationally known record label contract. Each contestant must be able to produce valid government issued identification, and failure to do so will result in disqualification from the competition. Previous winners who performed on the Tree Town stage in 2016, 2017, or 2018 are
NOT eligible!
Please initial that you have read and understand these rules. Check each line for eligibility.
_______I am not currently signed to a national recording label or been signed with a national recording label in the past 12 months.
_______I have not received monetary compensation to perform live at the local Karaoke Contest.
_______I am responsible for my own travel arrangements to and from competition.
_______I am not an employee of Alpha Media or its affiliate stations, or related to any of the contest judges.
_______I have provided and filled out the registration form to the best of my ability and all information is valid.
_______I have provided a copy of government issued photo identification stating that I am at least 21 years of age and a legal resident of the United States.

TO ENTER: Visit yourfortdodge.com and complete the application. Applications will be accepted on a first come/first serve basis. Each location has a suggested limit of 20 contestants.
Alpha Media and its “Road to Tree Town Karaoke” team are not responsible for late or incomplete applications.
All applications become the property of Alpha Media. Any false information provided on the application, or in connection with the Competition can result in disqualification.

PRIZES: There will be one (1) winner at each participating contest location who will receive two (2) General Admission passes to Tree Town Music Festival. The location finalists will advance to the Grand Finale competition.

One (1) finalist competing at the Grand Finale will win the Grand Prize package. Package includes two (2) V.I.P. passes to Tree Town Music Festival, Meet & Greet for 2 people with a Tree Town headliner, and chance to perform on the Tree Town Festival stage on Sunday,
May 26, 2019 between 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm.

No cash alternative to prizes will be offered. The prizes are not transferable. Prizes are subject to availability, and we reserve the right to substitute any prize without giving notice.

PERFORMANCE GUIDELINES: General guidelines related to all rounds
No nudity, flashing, or profanity allowed. Such behavior can be cause for disqualification from the Competition. Any other disruptive or distracting behavior will be cause for review and may result in disqualification.
Contestants must be able to attend all necessary rounds of Competition. No substitutions will be allowed.
Contestants may not use props
The order of contestant performances will be determined by random drawing. Every contestant must be ready to perform when it is his/her turn.
Contestants must sing using the equipment provided for the Competition by Alpha Media and the Premises.
Contestants must submit song choice in advance and approved by Contest Organizers (Alpha Media) to ensure song is not prohibited by the decency standards and/or copyright laws and to make sure it will be available.
All participants must keep in mind that karaoke versions of certain songs may vary, so make sure you are confident in your song selection. A contestant may sing the same song as other contestants on a given night. Contestants will have a full song length of time (3-4 minutes) to perform, but the judges have the prerogative to end a performance any time before.
If for any reason a contestant feels ill or unable to take the stage, Competition Staff must be notified immediately.
No alcoholic beverages will be allowed on stage during a performance. If a contestant is believed to be too intoxicated to perform, they may be asked to withdraw from competition.
The Sponsor Alpha Media, Premise, or Judges are not responsible for any injuries or audience comments/behavior. However, any members of the audience who are deemed unruly or disruptive may be asked to leave at Sponsor/Premise staff discretion.
Every effort will be made to rectify any technical issues that may arise during a performance. They will be addressed immediately and all equipment issues, human error or technical error, will be taken into judging considerations. However, Sponsor will not be responsible to the outcome/scoring based on a performance where such an issue may occur.
At no point in the Competition will contestants/participants be allowed to promote, sell, endorse any product or service, including their own promotional materials, including but not limited to demo tapes/CDs, apparel, photos. The participants must not accept any monetary compensation for the entire length of the Competition.
The competition is for single/individual performers ONLY.
Song choice must be on BMI approved list. Every effort will be made to have song available.

JUDGING:

A panel of rotating, independent volunteer judges will be responsible to determining which competitors advance/win the individual rounds/Grand Finale. Station event team may also select random people from the audience as needed.
Judges will award points based upon the following three (3) categories:
Vocal Ability
Stage Presence
Overall Style
Scale is 1-10 points in each category, with a maximum possible score of 30 points.
In the event of a tie, the judges in their sole discretion, will determine the winner(s).

GRAND FINALE:
All Grand Finale finalists must select their song choice, plus one (1) alternate song, prior to participating in Grand Finale.
Order of performance will be determined by random drawing. Decision of the judges is final.

ASSUMPTION OF RISK:
By submitting the contest entry form, the contestant grants Alpha Media the right to utilize the participants name, likeness, image, voice, appearance, and performance in perpetuity for advertising or promotional purposes whatsoever, in any and all media now known or thereafter developed, without compensation. I grant Alpha Media the right to broadcast, sell, and otherwise distribute my name image likeness, voice, appearance and performance, either whole or in part, for commercial, video, or internet distribution that Alpha Media in their sold discretion may determine. I give all clearance, copyright or otherwise, for the use of my name, likeness, image, voice, and appearance embodied in the performance/presentation.

GOOD CHARACTER:
The contestant agrees that they may be disqualified from any level of the competition if they commit any act of, or become involved in any situation that would adversely reflect on the karaoke contest or any party furnishing a prize, or tend to bring it into the public disrepute. Participants must abide by the decision of the Judges and Alpha Media. Poor sportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated!

SPONSOR RESERVES ALL RIGHTS:
Including the right to film, tape, and record any contestant’s performance. And to edit, publish, use, adapt, modify, or dispose of such film, tape, or recording online, in print, film, or in any other media for advertising and promotion, or any other purposes without compensation or notification to said contestant. By entering the competition, contestant agrees to participate in any promotional events related to the competition. Sponsor reserves the right to cancel or modify these Official Rules for any reason whatsoever, or if fraud, technical failure, unauthorized intervention, or any other factor beyond Sponsors reasonable control that impairs the integrity of the Competition, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. In such an event, Sponsor reserves the right to judge entries from among eligible, non-suspect entries received up to the time of impairment. By entering this competition, contests accept and agree to abide by these Official Rules and the decisions of the judges and Alpha Media shall be final, binding, and conclusive on all matters related to the Competition.
