CJ Bio America officials announced yesterday that its first batch of lysine was produced last week at its facility in Fort Dodge. General Affairs Manager Luke Palmer says the initial stages of production began on October 24 and the finished product was completed on November 1. Lysine is an amino acid that will be used in animal feed. Palmer said the historic moment is a great first step towards being at full capacity later this year:
The production of CJ's first U.S. batch of lysine product coincided with the 60th anniversary of CJ Bio America's South Korean parent company. In a statement, CJ Bio America President and CEO Jung Tak Nam said the moment was made possible because of "great support from the city of Fort Dodge, Webster County, the surrounding communities, and the state of Iowa" and hopes "that we can continue to grow together".
