Daniels Held on $10,000 Bond in Stabbing Death of Brother
A Fort Dodge woman was ordered held on $10,000 bond in connection to a Friday morning stabbing. 24 year-old Vanita Daniels is facing a Class C felony voluntary manslaughter charge in the death of her 19 year-old brother Marcquis Collier. Shortly after 11:20am Friday, Collier was found unresponsive in the front yard of 1407 1st Avenue North after being stabbed in the chest. He later died at UnityPoint-Trinity Regional Medical Center. According to a criminal complaint, Daniels stabbed Collier in a "sudden, violent, and irresistible passion resulting from serious provocation". A preliminary hearing was scheduled for May 16.
