The Fort Dodge Dodger baseball season came to a heartbreaking end against the defending state champions last night. The Dodgers fell by a 1-0 score to Ankeny in a Class 4A Substate final, meaning their season is over while the Hawks get a chance to defend their state title. The Dodgers could manage just one hit off of Ankeny starter Keaton Mckinney, who racked up 7 strikeouts. Dodger coach Blake Utley said despite the all-out effort, the offense just wasn't there. Tommy Halligan recorder the lone Dodger hit, while pitcher Keegan Gormally was the hard-luck loser despite scattering just four hits on the night.
