A recent trip to Washington, D.C.. appears to have paid off in a big way for the city of Fort Dodge. Yesterday, the city was notified that it was selected to receive $400,000 in federal grant assistance from the Environmental Protection Agency. While in the nation's capital, city officials requested letters of support from Senators Chuck Grassley and Tom Harkin and Congressman Steve King to accompany the grant application. City Manager David Fierke says the grant will go towards cleaning up old and contaminated sites throughout the city
The $400,000 grant is broken up in two parts, with $200,000 to identify hazardous substance contamination and $200,000 specifically to identify petroleum contaminated sites.
