Energy Company Plans Lundgren Wind Project in Webster County

A California-based energy company is planning a Lundgren Wind project in Webster County. EDF Renewable Energy spokeswoman Melissa Peterson says the company is planning to build about 109 wind turbines for a 250 megawatt wind and energy project. Since 2011, EDF Renewables has been talking with landowners for the use of property to build the turbines, and is currently in discussions with county officials before moving forward. Peterson is hopeful the project will serve as an economic boost to Webster County both in the short and long term

Peterson said if approved by the county, construction on the wind turbines could begin in October or November of this year. Webster County Supervisor Mark Campbell said that barring anything unforeseen, the Board of Supervisors do plan on approving the project. The turbines would be built in southern Webster County, near Dayton, Gowrie, Lehigh, and Burnside. MidAmerican Energy will be the long term owners and operators of the project.
