Authorities in Fort Dodge are investigating the scene of an explosion that occurred earlier this afternoon. Fort Dodge Police Lt Dennis Mernka says an explosive device went off at 1433 1st Ave N shortly after 1:00pm today. One male was home at the time and suffered minor injuries. He declined medical attention. As of now, he is not being treated as a suspect. The explosion occurred in the front room of the home, but Mernka could not get into specifics as to the device itself. Lt Mernka says investigators do not believe the public is in danger. The State Fire Marshal's Office is being called in to investigate. The Fort Dodge Fire Department and Webster County Sheriff's Office were also at the scene.
