FD Man In Custody Following Standoff Situation

The Fort Dodge Police Department says one man is in custody following a Tuesday morning standoff situation. Police Chief Tim Carmody says 29 year-old Kristopher Fye is facing multiple charges, including felony going armed with intent and misdemeanor charges of assault while displaying a weapon, harassment, and drug possession. Officers were sent to the 200 block of Ave D at 4:44am Tuesday after 19 year-old Lee Sundine reported that he was threatened with a handgun by a man while delivering newspapers. Information developed in the investigation led officers to 222 Avenue D, the home of Fye and his grandmother, 82 year-old Helen Kruse. When officers made contact with Fye, he retreated into the home and threatened to get his gun. From about 7:00am until shortly after 10:00am, officers and hostage negotiators talked with Fye until he surrendered himself. No injuries were reported.
