FDPD Seek Info in Attempted Assault Near Snell Crawford Park

The Fort Dodge Police Department is seeking information in an alleged attempted assault near Snell Crawford Park. Chief Tim Carmody says shortly after 9:00am Tuesday, officers were dispatched to the Snell Crawford Trail about a mile east of the park on a reported assault. A 34 year-old female Fort Dodge resident reported that she was assaulted by a male suspect while jogging. The victim reportedly ran past the suspect, who then turned around, came up behind her and attempted to put his hand over her mouth. She immediately began to yell and swing her elbow to get away. He was described as a white male in his early 20’s with average build and short sandy brown color hair. He was wearing blue or denim shorts, a cream or khaki t-shirt, and hiking boots. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the FDPD Criminal Investigation Division at 515-573-1426 or Webster County Crime Stoppers.
