A family of four was displaced following a Wednesday morning house fire on Fort Dodge's west side. Shortly after 8:00am, fire crews were dispatched to 619 3rd St NW and found heavy fire conditions to the rear of the home. During the fire, one adult was inside and was alerted by a DART bus driver in the area. Fire Chief Kent Hulett said the smoke detectors did not go off until the occupant exited the home. Investigators believe the fire originated in an outside shed area and spread into the home through windows and openings. Hulett deemed the home to be close to a total loss, and the Red Cross was contacted to assist. No injuries to the occupant or firefighters were reported.
