The Fort Dodge Fire Department responded to a blaze in Fort Dodge shortly after 3PM Monday afternoon. A neighbor was burning trash and the nearby garage caught on fire. The structure is a total loss. A man who attempted to put the fire out himself before firefighters arrived was treated for smoke inhalation. Everyone at the residence was home at the time of the fire. The garage is attached to a house at 821 Home Avenue, which is a dead end street just off of North 9th.
