Fort Dodge Man Held on Robbery, Forgery Charges
A Fort Dodge man is being held on bond, accused of robbing a man at gunpoint and writing bad checks. 28 year-old Kearie Patterson made his initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court on Friday and had bond set at $55,000. He is facing multiple felony counts including 2nd degree theft, 2nd degree robbery, and forgery. On July 11, Patterson allegedly robbed Sahid Ali at gunpoint after he had just closed the Liquor and Tobacco Outlet for the night. Patterson was arrested Thursday after allegedly using a check from a closed account to purchase a car from Shimkat Motors. In all, the total of fraudulent checks Patterson allegedly wrote is over $14,000. His preliminary hearing was set for August 22.
