Fort Dodge Set to Host State Softball Tournament

About 25,000 visitors are expected in Fort Dodge this week for the annual girls state softball tournament. A total of 40 teams are in town for the week and by Friday evening, only five will be left standing as state champions. Harlan Rogers sports complex will once again serve as host and will for the foreseeable future, as the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union will continue its partnership with Fort Dodge through at least 2020. Lori Branderhorst, director of Fort Dodge's parks, recreation, and forestry department, says the annual event is a big boost to the local economy:

Daily tournament passes are $10, and are available at the gate.
