Fort Dodge Teens Held on Weapons Charges

Two Fort Dodge teens were arrested Friday afternoon after gunshots were reported in the area of 1000 10th Avenue SW. Police Chief Tim Carmody reports as officers were en route to the scene just after 3:40pm, a caller reported seeing a vehicle leaving the area at a high rate of speed. Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of South 15th Street. The occupants were identified as 18 year-olds Zachary Bender and Tvonn Gully. Officers reportedly found a loaded, short-barreled rifle in the vehicle. Bender was also allegedly in possession of marijuana. Bender is charged with a Class D felony possession of an offensive weapon and a serious misdemeanor possession of marijuana. Gully is facing charges of possession of an offensive weapon and carrying weapons. Both are being held in the Webster County Jail.
