Pending approval of the city council, Fort Dodge will have a new Fire Chief in June. Candidate Kent Hulett from Belvidere, Illinois was the candidate nominated to replace retiring fire chief David Luers. City Manager David Fierke says he chose Hulett because he brings over 38 years experience to the department:
Hulett is a veteran fire fighter, having served in many capacities over his 38 year career including a prior stint as chief in Chippewa County, Wisconsin. Hulett said he is hoping to craft the next chief from inside while he’s in Fort Dodge:
Hulett says he sees training challenges because the crew is younger and is going to make training a priority. The city council will meet on June 10th and Huletts nomination will be voted on at that time.
