Landfill Improvements Should Fix Erosion, Leakage Issues

New additions at a Webster County landfill should help bring the site back to regulations. The Fort Dodge Messenger reports that upgrades to the North Central Iowa Regional Solid Waste Agency include a new weatherized landfill cell and a new system for collecting wastewater called Leachate.  Interim Director Cindy Turkle told the agency board that the improvements, which are scheduled to be constructed in October, should help eliminate erosion and leakage issues. Several residents in the Coleman District have blamed health ailments on Leachate reportedly being pumped from the landfill into the sanitary sewers in the neighborhood.
