Planned Parenthood to Close Fort Dodge Center, Three Others
Planned Parenthood of the Heartland has announced that its Fort Dodge center will be closing next month. In a news release, the organization says that its Fort Dodge center is one of four that will close on December 12, in addition to locations in Ankeny, Mount Pleasant, and Washington. Board chair Bob Shaw says that "fewer than 10 percent of our Iowa patients" visit the four centers. In addition, Shaw says the four centers have very limited hours which causes many to schedule more convenient appointments at a health center nearby. Following the closures on December 12, Planned Parenthood of the Heartland will have 21 health centers, including 16 across Iowa.
