The Fort Dodge Community School Board made an appointment to fill one vacant seat during its meeting Monday night. Board President Stuart Cochrane announced that Steve Springer would fill Deb Peterson's seat. Peterson resigned following the September 16 board meeting, citing that she was moving to Humboldt to be closer to family. District policy states school board members must live within the district. Springer was one of eight candidates that were interviewed by the board last week, and Cochrane says Springer is already heavily involved with the district:
Springer is currently the treasurer for the Fort Dodge Senior High athletic boosters. He will be sworn in as a school board member at the next meeting.
