Third Reading of Animal Control Ordinance is Tonight
The Fort Dodge City Council will hold its regular business session this evening at council chambers. Among the agenda items is the third and final reading of a new animal control ordinance. A split council has voted through the first two readings of the ordinance, which would provide an overhaul to existing animal control laws. During its previous two meetings, the council has received a mixed bag of feedback from city residents. Some of the more controversial components of the proposed changes include a limit on the number of dogs one could own and a regulation that people without fenced property would need to keep pets on a leash on private property. Council will hold a 5:00pm workshop on the east region storm sewer, followed by a 5:30pm workshop on animal control fines and fees. The regular council meeting will begin at 6:00pm.
