A burn ban is in effect today for Webster County. Webster County EMA Coordinator Tony Jorgensen beginning at 8:00am Thursday morning, all open burns in Webster County are banned with the exception of Fort Dodge, who has their own burning ordinance. The ban was requested of the State Fire Marshal's office since several fire chiefs around the county have asked for it. The chiefs requested the ban due to the recent spell of hot, dry weather, which could lead to an increase in field and grass fires. Jorgensen said the burn ban will remain in effect until there is a request from the area fire chiefs for it to be lifted.
