Webster Theater Hoping for New Life

The Webster Theater in Webster City is hoping to have new life breathed into it thanks to a local group looking to upgrade the theater and bring films back to Webster City.  The group called Help, Entertain, and Restore Organization, or HERO, is working to purchase the theater on main street. According to Jeff Pingle, a member of HERO, the decision to take on this project was sparked by the desire to have something to do in town.

Restoring and upgrading the theater will be an expensive endeavour and the group is trying raise about $220,000, which allows them to not only get up and running but also have a little cushion in the bank.  The biggest expense is upgrading from 35mm film to digital, as movies no longer come on film.

The group hopes to be up and running by Thanksgiving 2014, if all goes well.

If you wish to donate or help the effort, the group is working to get an indi go go campaign started.

People can also purchase seats for $300 to help with costs or can drop off a donation in any amount.

Peope who purchase a seat will get their name and a short message
on a plaque on the back of their purchased seat.  For more information, check out their facebook page at facebook dot com slash save the webster.
