FD couple pleads guilty to meth conspiracy

A Fort Dodge couple who conspired to manufacture and distribute methamphetamine pled guilty January 30th in federal court in Sioux City.

39-year-old Stacy Hanson and 47-year-old Daniel Rial, both from Fort Dodge, were convicted of one count of conspiracy to manufacture and distribute methamphetamine.

At the plea hearing, Hanson and Rial each admitted to their involvement in a conspiracy that manufactured more than 50 grams of actual (pure) methamphetamine from 2009 through January 2011 in the Fort Dodge area.  According to pseudoephedrine purchase logs obtained in the investigation, Hanson and Rial acquired at least 267.6 grams of pseudoephedrine for purposes of manufacturing methamphetamine.

On November 1, 2010, law enforcement officers conducted a search of Hanson and Rial’s residence.  Officers seized numerous items consistent with the manufacture of methamphetamine, including several empty boxes of blister packs of pseudoephedrine, rubber tubing, plastic gloves, and filters.

Hanson was taken into custody by the United States Marshal after the plea hearing and Rial remains in custody of the United States Marshal and each will remain in custody pending sentencing.
