A group gathered on the steps of City Hall in Fort Dodge on Thursday morning to hear whether an early spring was on the horizon, or 6 more weeks of winter as part of the annual Groundhog Day tradition. 

Fort Dodge Mayor Matt Bemrich presented Chubbers the groundhog to the crowd, "On the steps of City Hall on this Groundhog Day, Chubbers the groundhog, seer of seers, prognosticator of prognosticators, says we will have more winter as he did see his shadow...So be safe, stay warm, and enjoy 6 more weeks of winter."

Chubbers is a 1-year-old groundhog who was brought in from the Fort Dodge Oleson Park Zoo.

A group of approximately 40 gathered for the announcement.
