Some Local Jobs being Cut

A local plant is closing down part of its operation and moving it to St Joseph, Missouri.

That word comes from Boehringer Ingelheim.  The company says it is eliminating packaging and labeling in Fort Dodge. That will come during 2014 , according to an announcement Tuesday to those employees affected.  The remainder of the operation in Fort Dodge will stay the same.  The headquarters for the company's US operations is in St Joseph.

Some 25 jobs will be cut because of the decision to switch packaging and labeling to St Joseph.  None of these jobs were included in the project that was approved in BI’s last expansion shortly after acquisition.  The hiring and the expansion numbers of 78 employees and $19 million excluded these positions because of the uncertainty at the Riverside plant.
