Downtown FD host to 2nd Market on Central

Saturday morning, downtown Fort Dodge was the host for the 2nd Market on Central of the season. Thousands of people came despite isolated showers early in the morning.

Produce vendors continue to have more products. Cheryl O'Hern, chairwoman of Market on Central says that in talking to the vendors, they are confident the sales will increase as the summer moves along. O'Hern said, "All of them say that every week is going to get better. I'm confident by the time we have our next market, we will have sweetcorn." Many vendors have been very impressed with the start for the 2012 season. O'Hern said that one vendor compared last week's turnout to selling at the Minnesota State Fair.

It was a busy day entertainment wise downtown. The Blanden Art Museum was celebrating it's 80th birthday, and DART shuttle buses were transfering patrons back and forth so they could take part. The Steppin' Xpress Cloggers performed at the Plaza Stage, and the Fort Dodge Fire Department had their ever popular smoke trailer for the kids.

The next Market on Central is Saturday, July 14th.
