Methamphetamine Bust in Storm Lake

On Thursday, July 5, the Storm Lake Police Department executed a search warrant in connection with an investigation into the manufacturing of methamphetamine.

At approximately 8:00pm the Storm Lake Police Department Entry Team supported by the Public Safety Lab Response Team, the SLPD K9 Unit, investigators and the Storm Lake Fire Department executed a search warrant at a residence located at 721 Ontario Street.

Upon executing the search warrant police located and seized multiple components of an alleged clandestine methamphetamine laboratory.  In addition, police allege they located and seized a quantity of marijuana and other drug paraphernalia.  The Lab Response Team worked until the early morning hours of Friday, July 6, 2012 in securing the seized materials and insuring the materials were properly stored and that the residence was safe from the alleged manufacturing items and substances.

During the investigation police arrested Rodney Brock, age 42 of Storm Lake, and Shane Brock, age 45 of Storm Lake. Police allege that methamphetamine had been manufactured at the residence although the clandestine laboratory materials were not active at the time of the search warrant. Police further report that a minor child had been at the residence and that an elderly female also lives at the residence who Rodney Brock provides care for.

After processing the residence for approximately five hours and a series of interviews, Storm Lake Police charged Rodney Brock with Possession of Precursors (class D felony), Child Endangerment (class D felony) and Wanton Neglect of a Dependent Adult (serious misdemeanor).  He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on an $11,000.00 cash bond.

Police further arrested Shane Brock and charged him with Possession of Marijuana (serious misdemeanor) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor).  He was booked into the county jail on a $1300.00 cash bond.

Additional charges are pending the completion of analysis at the Iowa DCI Crime Lab.
