ACKLEY, Iowa (AP) _ Authorities have identified a man whom they say killed himself in a four-hour standoff with police last week in Ackley.
The Ackley Police Department say that 44-year-old David James Hogan, of Ackley, died in the standoff.
The standoff began around 8 a.m. Thursday when Ackley officers and Hardin County deputies went to a home to arrest Hogan on suspicion of domestic abuse and violation of a no-contact order.
They said Hogan was armed when he met them at the door, so they retreated and called for backup and for negotiators.
About four hours later, the officers heard the sound of a single gunshot from inside the home. Hogan was found dead inside the home with a head wound.
