IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) _ The trial of a Coralville woman charged in a house fire that killed a 14-year-old relative has been delayed.
Lillie Williams is charged with first-degree murder in the fire that killed Raymone Bryant last September. Her trial, which had been set to start on Tuesday, is now scheduled for Oct. 23 in Johnson County District Court.
The Gazette in Cedar Rapids says the trial was postponed so attorneys could sort out issues with witnesses, including whether Williams' 5-year-old grandson is competent to testify.
A final hearing to determine the boy's competency is set for Aug. 30.
Williams was arrested after police said she set fire to the home where her cousin and her cousin's husband lived.
