Waterloo Mother Arrested for Leaving Baby in Hot Car
Police arrested a Waterloo woman after she allegedly left her baby in a hot car.
According to Waterloo police, an officer investigating an illegally parked car spotted the baby boy in a car seat around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The windows in the car were rolled up and the baby was covered in sweat, police said. The child’s skin was red and he was gasping for air, authorities said.
The officer got the baby out of the car and called for medical assistance, officials said. He was taken to a local hospital.
Police said it took them 30 minutes to find the child’s mother in a nearby apartment building.
Shawna Raeann Bailey, 24, was charged with child endangerment.
