CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) _ An Iowa man has been charged with first-degree murder in last week's shooting death of a man found outside his home.
Linn County Sheriff Brian Gardner said that 63-year-old Martin Wilkinson was booked Monday at the county jail and charged in the death of 47-year-old Gregory O'Hare of Cedar Rapids.
Gardner says an autopsy shows O'Hare died of multiple gunshot wounds. He was found dead in a rural road in Linn County Friday morning, and deputies realized that a suspect was holed up in a home.
A SWAT team eventually used tear gas to get Wilkinson out. Wilkinson was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries that Gardner said were not caused by deputies.
Wilkinson is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday, and doesn't yet have an attorney.
