The Fort Dodgers were looking for a better result when they kicked off their road portion of the schedule last night in Olsen Stadium. They took on the big and talent Black Raiders of Sioux City East High School. The Black Raiders clicked on all cylinders including a last second touchdown going into halftime which was the start of a very long night for the Dodgers football team. East High in the end won the contest 48-7.
The Dodgers drop to 0-2 to start the season and now will have to regroup for next Friday's contest as they welcome in Marshalltown to Dodger Stadium. Fort Dodge's offense tied the game 7-7 early in the 2nd quarter when junior quarterback Andrew Stover connected with senior Tommy Halligan on a 21-yard touchdown pass capping a six play, 74 yard scoring drive. After that, the Black Raiders took control of the contest. Greg Kirwan was a force for East High as he rushed for 118 yards and 2 scores on just 20 carries for the night.
The Dodgers committed four turnovers in the contest and were outgained by East High in total yardage, 451 to 269.
Dodgers Running Back Devon Kirby had the best night on offense for Fort Dodge as he rushed for 71 yards on 14 carries on the night.
