Northwood Mayor Charged with Harassment

NORTHWOOD, Iowa (AP) _ Northwood Mayor Randy Severson has been charged with harassment after officials say he sent some emails to a woman after being warned not to contact her.

The Globe Gazette in Mason City says Worth County court documents show Severson was charged with third-degree harassment, a simple misdemeanor, last Friday.

He's accused of sending eight emails to the woman after being warned on Aug. 6 not to contact her in "in any manner.''

Severson told the newspaper on Tuesday that he received notification of the charge on Saturday, and would make a statement after talking with his attorney.

Severson is in his second term as mayor.
