DES MOINES, Iowa (AP)— A Des Moines man said he was attacked by three men who tied him up in his apartment and stole thousands of dollars in jewelry and other items early Monday.
The man told police he was in his apartment in the 1300 block of 23rd St. shortly after midnight on Monday, when he heard a knock at his door and saw a woman outside.
When the 36-year-old answered, the woman reportedly ran away and three men rushed into the apartment.
The man told police that the men punched and kicked him, and tied him up with power cords and his own belt. The man told police one of the men held a saw to his throat.
They also had a gun that the man said he believed was a fake.
The man said the robbers ransacked the apartment and took more than $4,700 in jewelry, tools and other items.
Des Moines police spokesman Christopher Scott said the home invasion is the second one reported in less than a week, which is unusual.
"The description right now is somewhat vague, but somebody might know who did it and they might contact us. Our relationship with the community has proven time and time again to help us solve cases," said Scott.
No arrests have been made in either case. Scott said the cases are not believed to be related.
