Sources say that the grisly discovery was made Tuesday in Garwin.
The Tama County Sheriff's Office says the fire broke out at the home just after 5 a.m. Tuesday.
Fire crews were able to extinguish the flames and found the man in the house.
The man, who has not yet been identified by authorities, was declared dead by the Tama County Medical Examiner.
The Iowa State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating to determine what caused the fire.
