FD Fire Chief Set to Retire

Fort Dodge's Fire Chief has announced his plans to retire after 36 years of public service.  Chief David Leurs announced the decision via email to his staff this morning. Luers said this afternoon that he will become eligible to retire in May, but offered to stay on later until a suitable replacement can be found. In addition, Luers said he chose to decide now in order to give city staff as much advanced notice as possible to ensure a smooth transition. Luers has served as Fort Dodge Fire Chief since August of 2010.
