FD Schools Voice Concern for Allowable Growth
The Fort Dodge Community School District became the latest to voice allowable growth concerns to the Iowa House of Representatives. Earlier this month, the Iowa Senate approved a 4% increase in allowable growth to schools, but the measure also requires action from the House. Superintendent Doug Van Zyl says after the district saw no new money in 2011, a 2% increase was given last year. Van Zyl says a 4% increase could go a long way:
The school board passed a resolution asking the Iowa House to approve the 4% increase. Currently, the district is budgeting for a 2% increase, which equates to around $450,000.
