The city of Fort Dodge continues the process of looking for its next Fire Chief. Following current chief David Luers' retirement announcement, city HR Director Jim Vollmer says 13 applications from both in and out of state were submitted before this past Friday's deadline. The next step will be for the city's Civil Service Commission to meet and finalize a certified list of eligible candidates. That list will be forwarded on to Fort Dodge City Council, who would accept the list and place it on file during an upcoming meeting. Then City Manager David Fierke will begin conducting interviews. Vollmer says if all goes according to plan, the position will hopefully be filled by mid to late May.
