FD Moving Forward with Construction, Shoring Up Private Property

Fort Dodge City Council voted unanimously to move forward with plans of shoring up a privately owned garage that is currently in the city's right of way. The city will put $1,250 into shoring up the garage at 526 Second Street NW, so it will not collapse while construction work being done on Sixth Avenue Northwest. The garage, which was said to be in poor condition, is located at the bottom of the hill near the intersection of Sixth Avenue NW and Second Street SW. With the council's action, the city will pay for the shoring up of the garage as well as obtain an temporary construction easement to allow workers on the private property to do the work.
