Over 100 Fort Dodge students were recognized during Sunday evening's Youth Character Awards program. 112 5th through 12th grade students received honors, including Susan Winter's Kindergarten class at Feelhaver Elementary. The class was awarded with the first-ever "classroom of character" award after being nominated by other Feelhaver teachers. All nominees were asked to submit an essay on character and what it means to them and three winners were chosen. Fifth-grader Dalton Summers for his Athletics for Education and Success fundraising efforts, eighth-grader Charlie Doyle for his support of special olympics, and high schooler Casey McEvoy for encouraging good deeds with "pay it forward' bracelets.
