Snow Storm Dumps 4 to 6 Inches in Fort Dodge



An unprecedented spring snow storm has dumped between 4-6 inches of snow in Fort Dodge and the surrounding areas. In addition, scanner traffic indicates a large number of downed trees and several phone and power lines as well. Police Chief Tim Carmody advises residents to stay indoors if possible and to report any downed trees or lines to the law enforcement center. Fort Dodge Public Works Director Greg Koch says even for Iowa, this storm is rare:
 

Crews have been clearing streets since 3:00 this morning. Koch said crews are also dealing with minor flooding issues on some of the main streets.
