Fort Dodge public safety officials are investigating an early Friday morning fire that destroyed the city Mayor's business. Crews were dispatched to Bemrich Electric, 110 South 21st Street, at 2:44am and found the structure completely engulfed in flames. Crews had the fire contained shortly before 5:00am. Two hours later, investigators were still waiting to enter the building due to structural concerns. Fort Dodge Fire Captain Steve Hergenreter said the roof of the building collapsed about 30 minutes in to operations, however no firefighters were in the business at the time. New Fire Chief Kent Hulett recaps the first major fire of his tenure in Fort Dodge:
Matt Bemrich, Fort Dodge Mayor and owner of the business, said he'd like to say Bemrich Electric could be operational by next week, but it is too soon to tell.
