Pending council approval, the city of Fort Dodge's Public Works Department is planning a department-wide reorganization and restructuring. During one of the council workshops, Public Works Director Greg Koch outlined the proposed changes, which include no planned staff reductions. The department, currently 46 employees strong, would be reorganized into three main divisions: Water Utility, Streets and Sanitation, and Vehicle Maintenance. Koch said one advantage to the restructuring is that it would allow employees to be cross-trained to perform different responsibilities:
Should council approve the restructuring, city officials would begin implementing the new organization after the July 4 holiday.
