Humboldt County Considering Social Hosting Ordinance

Officials in Humboldt County are considering a social hosting ordinance regarding underage drinking. On Monday night, the Humboldt City Council discussed a social hosting ordinance, which is also being discussed at the county level. A social hosting ordinance would hold people responsible for allowing underage drinking on properties they own. Councilman Joe Hader says if it is a problem in the county, he has not heard about if from law enforcement. Council members Joel Goodell and John Sleiter questioned whether people would be held responsible even if they are unaware that underage drinking is occurring on their property. The council took no action, and are waiting to see what is done at the county level.
