The Fort Dodge Dodgers softball season came to a disappointing end last night. A year removed from a 1-0 loss to Ankeny in the regional final, the Dodgers found themselves on the losing end of a 6-0 score. Ankeny, the defending state champion, scored one run in the first inning and added 5 more in the 5th, thanks to a three-run home run from Emilee Dorpinghaus and a two-run shot from Taylor Steinfeldt. The Dodgers managed just six hits off of starting pitcher Courtney Clayberg, however they stranded 10 runners, including with the bases loaded in the top of the 7th inning. With the loss, the Dodgers ended their season with a 26-16 record.
