Two Pick up Bag of Money from Armored Van, Charged with Theft

Police have charged two people with driving off with a bag of money that fell out of an armored van near downtown Des Moines. The incident happened Wednesday morning as the armored van was leaving the Community Choice Credit Union. Officials say a bag of money fell from the van when a door malfunctioned as the vehicle was turning a corner. Halifax says a car stopped and someone picked up the bag and left. Police learned the license plate number and found the car in a shopping mall parking lot. Officers waited by the car until two people returned, then charged Des Moines resident Samantha Jackman and Dallas Center resident Tyler Critchlow with First-Degree Theft.
