Rep. King Not Backing Down from Controversial Comments
Iowa's 4th District Congressman is not backing down from controversial comments he made regarding undocumented immigrants. When discussing a proposal to give citizenship to children of undocumented workers, Congressman Steve King suggested many of them were drug smugglers, saying a majority have "calves the size of cantaloupes because they're hauling 75 pounds of marijuana across the desert". King responded to criticism, saying his comment was not meant to be offensive, but he's not backing down:
House Speaker John Boehner was one of several denouncing King's comment Thursday, saying the remarks were "deeply offensive and wrong" and don't reflect the values of the American people or the Republican party.
