Des Moines Police have arrested a former youth pastor in connection with abuse allegations by two girls. Police on Tuesday charged 27-year-old Ryan McKelvey with two counts of sexual exploitation by clergy and two counts of 3rd degree sexual abuse. Officers began investigating the matter after being contacted Monday by a girl and her parents about an alleged sexual assault by McKelvey, who was a former youth pastor at Heritage Assembly Church. The investigation led to a possible second victim, who also told police about other incidents. Detectives spoke with McKelvey at his home and then brought him to the police station, where he was arrested.
